This story was developed as part of the 2018 MAGNUM Foundation Photography & Social Justice Fellowship focusing on Pollution and Climate Change in New York City. Fellows are required to create a project with New York City as muse. Deciding to focus on Pollution and Climate Change the project was developed with several media using still images, animated GIFs & immersive video.
The Still Images were only focused on the current state of the Gowanus canal and the commitment and resilience of the communities in influencing positive social and structural change.
The animated GIFs reflects broad and interesting points of conversations both positive and negative on Pollution and Climate Change, like Con-Ed’s stance on Steam Pipes manholes, Newton creek’s inhabitability etc.
